VLAN Tagging

Some of the Vocality router devices support IEEE802.1Q VLAN tagging.

An Ethernet interface may be configured for VLAN operation by specifying the VLAN or VLANs that are supported on that physical interface and then allowing configuration of IP router and/or bridge ports over that VLAN.  Any configuration options that are possible on the existing ENET interfaces shall be extended to allow operation on the VLAN interfaces.

This function allows users to create multiple Layer 2 networks within their deployed network, whilst sharing a single common router – in this case, the Vocality router. This means that a remote site for a defence application could have one VLAN for logistics, one for Welfare and so on – all co-existing on the same router.
