Secure Voice over BGAN
Inmarsat used to support bandwidth optimised secure voice on its B and GAN terminals, but the latest generation - called BGAN - have no inbuilt support for the mainstream secure voice cryptos such as STU III or STE.
The BGAN terminal offers an IP WAN port, to which users can connect a device such as the V25 - which has inbuilt support for satellite optimised secure voice, even when operating over poor quality Inmarsat services.
The V25, like the other Vocality products, can be purchased with the dedicated Secure Voice Relay board, which allows STU IIB, STU III and STE (FNBDT) secure calls to be converted into optimised network packets, which are transmitted over the BGAN terminal to another Vocality device at the hub site.
In a typical network, users will have multiple V25 units in the field, and a hub unit such as a V150 or V200 which can conduit dozens of V25s through into the PSTN via a digital phone interface or analogue POTS port.
Vocality is pleased to offer free evaluation of this functionality, so please contact Vocality in the United States (email sales@vocality.com) with your request.
United States integrator Action Systems product a range of products incorporating the V25 or V50plus called the TRM range. These products offer battery power, security products and Vocality equipment, designed to address a specific need in the intelligence, military and government community for tactical voice and data support over Inmarsat BGAN Terminals. The brochure for the TRM-25 is available on the brochures page.
