V50plus Mobile Satellite Router and Multiplexer Launched Today

7th December 2006: UK based satellite communications manufacturer launches the V50plus – a major new release from the Company who has provided thousands of bandwidth saving multiplexer and router devices to satellite network operators worldwide.

Vocality’s multiplexer/routers – an alternative to “mainstream” terrestrial routers – are designed specifically for satellite.

Vocality always promotes that its products “save space”. By that, Vocality means that the equipment is physically small, and also bandwidth optimized to make maximum use of satellite bandwidth. The V50plus takes both of these concepts to the extreme.

V50plus is a powerhouse of functionality. The handheld device, weighing around, 1kg (2.2lb), delivers up to 16 traditional telephone circuits over an IP or traditional satellite modem link.

In addition, the V50plus embraces latest technologies by incorporating 30 channels of VoIP together with a TCP Accelerator to overcome the problem of satellite latency (with IP ports delivered via the optional integrated 8 port Ethernet Switches with Power over Ethernet for VoIP phone support.)

V50plus is a fully realized multiplexer platform and router combined, with maximum bandwidth optimization used to ensure that the unit delivers as many services as possible over a bandwidth-restricted satellite link.

Important new functionality has been added to the V50plus specifically for United States DoD applications. Whilst past Vocality products have only supported up to 4 secure phones over a single device, the new V50plus platform can support up to 16 concurrent US DoD secure phones over a single multiplexer and router platform combined. Secure phones supported include STU III, analogue STE and SCIP (FNBDT).
