News Gathering Communications

Vocality has a long history in providing news gathering communications solutions to the broadcasting community. Users include most of the UK's broadcasters, as well as some of the majors in the US and international markets.

Communications packages allow truck or flyaway users to have access to a mixed range of services for back-office support. These services include:

• Network IP connectivity (with VLAN support) for accessing the newsroom system or internet
• Telephone circuits (from bandwidth efficient CISCO phone support to regular analogue telephones)
• Four wire circuits for providing isolated send or receive talkback audio to the presenter, engineer or operator in the field

Vocality's range of solutions are all driven by the same software, but the device proposed for each broadcaster depends on their demands.

Firstly, is the link a legacy serial satellite modem such as a Paradise Datacom, Radyne or Comtech modem, or an IP satellite modem such as Skywan, iDirect or Inmarsat? Vocality can address both serial and IP links into the truck.

Secondly, what services do you need? If you need network IP traffic plus one type of service such as voice or four wire, then a BASICS Four Wire or BASICS Voice will be ideal. For mixed services, Vocality recommends it's Professional products.
