Standard CPU Card

Standard CPU Card

This important Vocality option card delivers two key functions. The Standard CPU Card acts as the system manager, firmware storage, log storage as well as integrated multiplexer and router functions delivered through one integrated Ethernet port and one serial data port. A V150 chassis with a Standard CPU Card delivers basic IP and serial data functionality.

Secondly, the Standard CPU Card acts as a carrier card - allowing users the option to install feature modules onto the Standard CPU Card to deliver additional features.

Standard CPU Card with VoiceFor example, an Analogue Voice Module can be installed into a V50plus chassis to add analogue voice to a V50plus unit, an Analogue Voice Module can be installed onto a Standard CPU Card to add analogue voice to a V150 or V200.

This carrier card functionality delivers huge benefits to the user. Firstly, users can carry common spares between V50plus, V150 and V200 deployments. Secondly, units can support a significantly higher density of option cards and ports across a chassis.

In the case of the V150 chassis, which delivers 3 full option slots, a user can install a Standard CPU Card in all 3 slots, and an Analogue Voice Card onto each Standard CPU Card. Such a solution would then deliver 3 x independent routers, 3 x serial data ports (up to 5Mbps each) and 24 voice ports - each one supporting secure or clear voice.
