Coming : May 2008 : New ISDN over Fibre Extender
What if you need to deploy ISDN devices around a field deployed campus or base ? What if you want to deploy ISDN over large terrestrial distances, but are concerned about the security of using copper cable ?The simple to use ISDN over Fibre Extender from Vocality offers the ability to extend four basic rate interfaces (including signalling) over single or multi-mode fibre. The units require no configuration - just plug in, connect your ISDN Network at one end and your ISDN device at the other end, and the extension is complete.
Single-Mode Fibre is suited to longer distances due to the nature of it's limited light dispersion over distance. Multi-Mode Fibre is often used in the cabling of smaller, localised networks - such as those within a camp or building.
The ISDN over Fibre Extender provides a strong, secure method of deploying ISDN interfaces in high electrical noise areas or in RF shielded enclosures, or areas where data tapping is a risk. For tap- and tamper-proof ISDN applications there is no better way to connect the telephones or video conferencing systems (for example with 4 BRIs) over a fibre pair to the central IT high security room.
Two converter units are required to extend one BRI over fiber optic cable - protocol and application transparent. Multi-mode and single-mode fiber optic cable types are both supported.
Propius ISDN Extenders are also available for rack mount and Primary Rate applications.
