Comparisons Between V100 and the new V150

Vocality International has launched the V150 in order to provide improved product capabilities to our customers and users. The V150 offers a strong range of features from launch. Additional features are planned and will be introduced during coming months.

Vocality is continuing to supply the V100 for applications which can not be addressed by the V150. Here is a summary of the applications.
  • STU IIB Applications (Secure Voice)
  • STU III over ISDN Application
  • Multi-Channel over ISDN Application
  • Basic Rate ISDN Extender Applications

Chassis

The V100 offers 2 main option slots, with support for 1 Ethernet port and a number of interface option cards. The V150 offers redundancy between option cards, as well as the option of redundant power supplies. The chassis now utilises the option cards developed for use in the V50plus and the V200 - creating a seamless range of devices with full inter-device compatibility.

Voice Ports

The V100 supported 16 analogue voice circuits. Through the new interface card system, the unit can now support 24 analogue voice circuits. Whereas the V100 supported the old Digital Voice Card, the V150 now supports the higher specified Dual Digital Voice Card, which offers 60 voice channels per slot - delivering 180 voice channels in a 1U chassis (complete with power redundancy).

Router Ports

The original V100 delivered just a single 10/100 base-T port. The new system of delivering an IP Router with nearly all option cards in the range means that 1, 2 or 3 independent routers can be installed in a single 1U device. The unit also offers an IP Switch option, which increases the port count per router from 1 to 8. The Ethernet ports in the V150 support VoIP (SIP Gateway), PEP (TCP Acceleration) and SNMP functionality.

ISDN

The V100 currently supports an integrated ISDN Terminal Adapter for connection to terrestrial ISDN or Inmarsat. This feature is yet to be migrated to the V150. The V100 also supports the ISDN Extender Card. This too is yet to be migrated to the V150.

STU Secure Voice

The V100 supports the "legacy" STU III (US DoD) and STU IIB (NATO) secure voice capability. Only 8 circuits could be STU enabled in the V100. Vocality's new SVR Card (Secure Voice Relay) delivers STU III support on all voice ports, whichever the model - both analogue and digital. That means that whereas a V100 could previously support 8 channels of STU enabled voice, the V150 now supports 24 STU enabled voice ports. With the Digital Voice Cards, the V150 can support up to 180 STU III voice calls at any one time. Currently, the legacy and current STU cards are not compatible. Contact Vocality for more information.

Overall, the V150 presents a major step forward in capability, and over the coming few months as other functionality is released onto the new platform, it will certainly become the rack mount, versatile multiplexer/router solution of choice for military, broadcasting and satellite operators.
