The Company
- Vocality manufactures British designed routers, multiplexers and test equipment.
- Target clients are satellite communications clients – broadcasters (15%), military (75%) commercial (10%)
- Clients sold to are primarily experienced users of satellite communications equipment – satellite modems, Inmarsat terminals
- Vocality employs 30 people in 3 countries – most in the UK.
- The office location is a small village near Farnham, Guildford and Godalming in Surrey – commutable from Basingstoke, Crawley, Woking, Reading.
- Clients include Special Forces, Army, Navy and Air Forces of many countries, including United Kingdom, USA and Australia. Broadcasters include BBC, Sky, ITN, Canal+, ABC, Fox, CBS, NBC. Largest UK client is Paradigm Services – operator of the Skynet V (Skynet 5) network for the UK military.

- Multiplexers – TDM and traditional fast packet/statistical
- VoIP, POTS voice, E1/T1, ISDN
- Interconnection to Inmarsat equipment, flyaway terminals from Advent Communications, SweDish, Norsat, Paradigm Communication, Gigasat
- Interconnection to satellite modems from Comtech EF Data, Radyne, Paradise Datacom, Thrane and Thrane and so on
The Positions
- European Account Manager (Co-operatively working with an existing Account Mgr)
- Middle East and Eastern Europe Account Manager
- Africa Account Manager
- Indian Ocean > Australia Account Manager (UK Based – working with Aus office)
Experience Requirements
- Positions not suitable for ‘first timers’. Experience is essential.
- Experience of the geographies and local traditions useful
- Experience of selling telecoms equipment to military, or selling satellite communications equipment essential
- Languages would be useful
- Understanding of forecast management, CRM and all the usual sales tools. Vocality uses Sage 1000 – a high level CRM and MRP system.
- Knowledge of ‘terrestrial equivalent’ manufacturers such as RAD, Verso, CISCO, Nortel and Vados would be useful.
The Role and The Potential
- Vocality’s client base is premium – with demanding clients with interesting and rewarding programmes for the deployment of equipment. The programme is to significantly grow the market coverage into a far wider geographic range.

British router and multiplexer manufacturer, Vocality International is seeking a talented Technical Manager to head up the Herndon, VA office’s engineering activities.
Vocality Inc. operates a small office in Herndon servicing its clients such as the US Marine Corp, US Navy, NATO, UN, CBS, NBC, Fox and also partner suppliers such as satellite modem and terminal manufacturers. Vocality works extensively in the milsatcom market, providing secure voice and IP capabilities to tactical and fast responder clients.
Knowledge of the following technologies would be useful:
The Technical Manager will be responsible for-
As a senior member of staff, the Technical Manager will be required to travel – both to key American clients, but also to the European head office.

The Technical Manager will be responsible for-
- Pre-sales support (providing, or supervising)
- Presenting Vocality to new prospects
- Post-sales support (providing, or supervising)
- Advising on network design policy in key clients
- Advise head office on product design plans
- Assist in recruitment programmes, staff reviews and business planning policy development
- Supervise a small engineering and production facility
